but it took really long, and this essay is taking long, not cause im procrastinating (well except for this) cause im tired, haha in need sleep, but at first it was just cause i had two glasses champange which mixed iwth my drowsy-ness, causing me to be really drowsy >.>

had the band festival on friday...and it was akward, cause my sax kinda broke....like i couldn't play. So i told carl and he was like, if you can fix it ask two switch instruments with someone else....so i was like looking for becky or chase to switch with, but they borth drove to festival, and haden't arrived..so jeff, who is a clarinetist, but he plays alto sax in jazz band, comes and like plays around with it, blows into it at random places, and plays it until he gets it to work, and so then it started to work, but i hurt my lip, cause i had to play it weird, and i couldn't play high notes >>>.>>>>> lol

but it was cool, played 500 on the wresling mats =P ..and watched channing, so ya, psh ...but dude i went home and CRASHED it was crazy @.@

so today, i wasen't able to go to angela's shamrock cause i had to do homework, and stuff, so my mother took me driving and so i moved to doing frisbee today, rather than tomarrow, then went to joe's food place, and brian for like an hour, so now im like chilling and watching american idol, which actually i think is a pretty boring show, i mean its a little more amusing for the auditions, but still ehh

I actually got my permit!!!..even tho i got two wrong >.>

So i was so hungry, and i wanted food, but didn't want to go all the way down the caf, so i bought a box of samoas, and then i was like psh i will just give like half away....and then DAMN OUR MATH CLASS CAN EAT

so i have most of it to my math class (i ate three :D ) ..and then avanti gives away half her thin mints, and then geof boyle gives away some truffles (geof was our sub) and it was crazy..

it was amusing thou, cause i was giving vee another cookie, and then peter takes it, and febe is like 'Peter! give it back' and so he does, and i didn't realize he wanted it so i just gave bobby two, and then peter was like 'hey what, i was good and gave it back' ehehehehe <.<

So i have a C in jpn, cause we had three asignments, all 10 points, and one i got 4 points on, cause it was a quiz <.<

So the eighth graders make a fundrasier for darfur, in which people bough raffle tickets for, a nano (i unno how much the tickets costed), a video ipod ($3), and an ibook ($10)....so my mom bought five tickets for the video ipod...and then before she left for her trip was like 'raffle tickets!', and of course i was like pshh, cause i belived that like raffles were evil, considering ihaven't won anything in a raffle since like 6th grade or sumtin...and then the darfur 8th graders had a darfur dance, in which they told who won, and of course i wasen't at the dance >.>;;; so like frank calle dmy house and was like 'rachel won the video ipod!" and i was like not there at the moment..and so i was really tired and hanging out at brians, so i called my dad and he was like 'sure i will pick you up, oh btw you won the video ipod' and iw as liek =_=??? yo no comprende, and then he explained and i was WIDE AWAKE AFTER THAT!!! MWAAHHA

this weekend was fun: saturday was the soccer game and frisbee game...soccer was fun of course, but frisbee amused me more, and it went pretty well, being my first actual game before (kit kat doesn't count =P) well well except for the part where Iv had to keep telling me to move up during a point and i was like ladidum...but not really...cause Iv varsity..so what he says i do

sunday: dress shopping...i finally got a dress after so much desision making..but now i dunno if i want taht dress, so im ordering another online, and i will pick from the two and then send one of them back ^^;;;

today: twas weird i woke up at like 5 am and i felt like throw-upy sick..and my mom woke up at 4:45 cause she left early today at 5:30 for le airport so she brought me up some tea and told me to sleep..but then i fell asleep and was all healed at 7..but now im really tired =_=

homg though! this week is gonna be so crazy...

hokei so avatar amuses me....i have decided....but i must admit it is pretty well done...like its not rare im amused by a kid show <.< hehe~....but like it seems like it has more substance to it...so MWAHAHA

so last night i stayed up way late, and it was weird...i wasent taht affected during that day or anything..but when i went my harp lesson i was s drowsy and now im awake again cause i watched vernoica mars @.@

band was a little akward cause Carl played a song by Sigur Ros...and did like an activity with it...but when he asked if anyone had heard of Sigur Ros, i was the only one to raise my hand and he was like O.o and then later he was like "i researched the band and they sing in their own language...like the words' roots and system of the language are icelandic for the most part, but yea.   Rachel, do you find anything about them like that?" and i was like erm <.< garg

gah i hate my PE class...they refuse to shut up!!!! ever!!! stephan totally hates us the most and its like deadness...but like certain people will keep talking..and then you tell them to be quiet and they either a) ignore you or b) talk back/mock you <.<

then i had frisbee later on which was fun i guess..but i felt stupid cause like nathan would be like "go over there" or "you should've dumped" and he was right i was just being stupid XP hehe..ahh hopefully i will get the hang of wing and maybe even learn how to be the cup :D which would be a big step forward

i have a semi-dilemma though..i dunno if i should go to susan and stephanie's sweet 16 party or not...like usually  i don't go that group type's whole grade birthday parties but idunno...like i talk to susan sometimes but i don't know her ALL that much so yeah :/ ..i always though whole grade invited parties were weird anyways, so that factor doesn't help ^^;; but i mean i still never got that idea i mean i doubt everyone likes everyone else...i mean why would you want everyone to come even if you didn't talk to them?...to be nice? ^^: hmm

so right now im in the high school compy lab....we im told we are suppoed to research a topic for the science fair...so far all i have decided is i want to do something with marine bio. so ahh

so i just came into class like 5 minutes ago and its 8:55 so basically i came in 35 minutes late <.< ahh well the teacher isn't eve here right now, she locked her keys in her car XD

but yeah im so late cause in the morning i was reading and i didn't wanna stop reading so i didn't and then it came to be 8:15 and i deicded to get ready (i read after my shower though =P) and then i just told my dad that i feel sick, and thats why im late....first time i have ever lied to my parentals about being sick with it having to do with missing school...no joke >.>

so yesterday was cool for the most part...
classes were not horrible or anything, and then i had frisbee where i learned about zoning so for the most part i know what to do for it...and we played a scrimmage with only JV which was cool cause then i cut in a lot cause the varsity scares me heh =P

after frisbee i had piano though, and that made me kinda depressed, its like i practice at least 3 days a week for 30 minutes (she said it was cool if i did) and yet i get there and feel guilty like i didn't practice as much as i was supposed to...and i feel humiliated cause its like for some reason - even though im comfertable with playing in front of my teacher - i played horribly..i think its also cause usually before lessons i spend like 5 - 10 minutes getting in to the mood of playing piano..but now i can't *shrugs* ah well i dunno what im gonna do but its all good.. heh =P

but yeah..zen i had frisbee which was cool...i sucked of course..bu thats all cool...cept at this one point..where there was a turnover and macenzie was on the sideline and was like "rachel go deep!" and i though he was joking so i was like "wtf?" and christene was guarding me and was "like go deep!..then cut in" and macenzie was like "hokei now do that from now on" so i did but i was like <.<;;, after the point it was cool though cause christene was like holy crap you can actually cut (cause i hardly do) and that amused me

also evan put me in center def...and i was like WTF considering we had ariel and febe!!, so yeah finally i got out of it and ariel became it..causei had no idea where to go XPPP

HOMG LJ LAYOUT CHANGED O.O WOAH

hokei so today was awsome..i went to starbucks with avanti (mostly cause she agreed to get me a drink~) and so on the way there we see stephan and his TA at 7-11..and were like HEY!!..and yeah and so we are on the way back and we pass him again and he is on his cell, so we asked if avanti's sister's TA was still at 7-11...cause they went..and he was like no, and yeah...so we get back to school and we see him down the hall way and we were like "WOAH WAHT??!?!? how did he get here already" so we confront him and are liek how did you walk here faster than us?@!?!?! and nick goes "he is a PE teacher he doesn't walk!" which was awsome XD;;;; ohh dears ...but yeah <.< ..oh and during algebra 2 kris flailed her arms~ which was amusing XD;; oh kris is awsome

So today was the first day of school..duh

 i found out my schedule was MAJORLY changed...so basically im alone during Bio (and i met someone's whose name i forgot <.< ) and during PE i have adriana whom i love..but i dunno how its gonna be having PE with her cause she can drive me insane at times cuase of her talking

hokei so i get to school and i picked a locker and it had this codom that was tied a hook of the locker, and it will filled with some weird smelling crap XP why are seniors so evil (well better than last year when we almost got kicked out) so Stephan had to go and take it out, so during class he remeber me as the girl who is helped me XD;

8:20 - Intense Bio - our new teacher seems cool, like she seems old and sensible...but she seems to know how to teach and keep us interested, and is open to new things and stuff

What is the origin of the word 'penguin'?

This name was originally applied to the great auk of the North Atlantic (now extinct). In the narrative of Hakluyt's voyages, Ingram (probably writing in about 1582) remarked that this 'seemeth to be a Welsh name', and Celtic scholars have been very happy to accept this explanation (pen gwyn meaning 'white head' in Welsh), ascribing the name to Welsh (or Cornish or Breton) sailors. However, the great auk in fact only had a white spot in front of each eye; and it seems odd that English-speaking sailors should pick up a word from Welsh (or Cornish or Breton). (The great auk's other English name, garefowl, is from Norse, a language much more associated with North Atlantic seafarers.) The name 'penguin' was first reliably reported from Newfoundland in a letter of 1578, also given in the account of Hakluyt's voyages; but in Newfoundland the name is said usually to have been pronounced 'pin-wing'. This accords with another theory, that the bird was originally called the 'pin-wing', with reference to its curiously rudimentary wings. It would also explain why, as early as 1588, the term was being applied also to the southern birds which we know as 'penguins' today, and which also have rudimentary wings (but not white heads). However, there is not much hard evidence in support of this theory either. A third suggestion, that the Latin word pinguis 'fat' is somehow involved, seems implausible on linguistic grounds, though it may have influenced the spelling of the auk's Latin name, Pinguinus.
